Shoot For the Moon

Hi Everyone :)

I love the Sentiment Chipboards from Make it Crafty. Not only are the sentiments fab, they also push me to create something a little out of my comfort zone.

In this case, I fancied creating a starry, galaxy style background. Normally, I would use my Airbrush for this, or pick up some Ink from a Craft Mat. But, again, in the spirit of pushing myself to try something different, I thought I would colour the background with my Copics.

I used four colours; B63, B66, B69, B79. I put down a base of B63 and then built up random layers of colour, until I felt happy with what I had. I smeared on some silver ink and added some frantage embossing powder and called it job done.

Fairy Star up close and personal!

Oi! Where's the week gone?! ;)

I've been rushing here, there and everywhere this week, and it suddenly occurred to me that it is NOT 19 February anymore, which is when I should have posted this. Eeepers!

So, back a while, Making Cards asked me to do a project to show how you can make your digis look very different, just by cropping them. You can see my Full Size Fairy Star here. I love that when I showed these two cards to Very Understanding Hubby, he had no idea they were the same image. Note to self... Very Understanding Hubby may not notice the difference between my Copics and I should really get the FLs...

Merry Everything

Hey Peeps :)

I love Fairy Star. So much so, I actually made two cards with her for a feature in Making Cards Magazine. I often do this when I can't decide what to do with an image, I'll print it out in a number of formats and colour them all up, creating multiple cards which look very different. Remember all three of my Angelic Wishes Cards? This version is the whole image, obviously, but I also did a cropped version, which I'll show another time.

Krafty Daisies

Hellio :)

Last month, I made a card using these Daisies from Make it Crafty. At the time, I couldn't decide if I wanted to colour them with Copics and give them a lovely purple airbrushed background, or, if I wanted to colour them in Pencil, on Kraft Card. So, taaadaaaaaaaa... I've done both!

Mermaid Lola

Hi Everyone :)

I've had a hankering to colour a Mermaid for a while, so when Squizz told the Word Birds the next Challenge at Without Words would be a Blue and Brown Colour Challenge, (you still have just over a week left to join us, with a chance to win goodies from Clearly Besotted so... see you there, right?!) I rubbed my little hands together with glee.

Make it Crafty has a gorgeous selection of Mermaids to choose from, (this lovely is Mermaid Lola.) so I thought I would combine my Wordy Duties with some Make it Crafty Inspiration. Bosh! I love it when a plan comes together!

Kimberly Jogging

Hi Everyone :)

The first Monday of the month means a new Challenge over at Without Words. It's a Colour Challenge... Pink, Blue and Yellow, with the option of adding Something Floral. What a fab Colour Combo, but boy, I will admit I found it a bit bum clenching! So, no flowers from me, but how cool is Kimberly Jogging? (Who is not based on Squirrel running for the bus!!) We're sponsored by Make it Crafty this time, so play along with us for a chance to win a $15 Store Voucher.

You'll notice I'm still on a particularly clean kick at the moment. I wanted Kimberly to be the star of the show, with just a splash of yellow from some yummy Echo Park Papers from Dies to Die For. Job done!

In the meantime, we have a new Challenge for you over at Little Miss Muffet Stamps... Round in Circles. You'll see now, why there are so many circles 'things' on this card. And, much as I love Easel Cards, boy, do I hate taking photo's of them!

Just Chillin'

Hi Everyone :)

I thought it was about time I tackled a scene again. Creating a scene takes me almost as long as colouring them up... my eye for sizing is not good, and I'm not as familiar with the newer versions of Word as I used to be. Pfft to upgrades! Delphine is my Go To Gal for scenes, she is wonderful at them and often tweaks mine.

I decided to keep this scene for my Card Journal. It's filling up nicely already. My ATC Journal is getting a little ignored though.

I would like to enter the following Challenges...

Penny's Paper Crafty Challenge - One for the Girls
Ruby's Rainbow - CAS
Simon Says Stamp - Make your own Background (I made a scene for my two images!)
Whimsy Stamps Challenge - Colour an Image

Spring Vixie

Hey Peeps :)

It's all about Spring Colours over at Little Miss Muffet Stamps today. Nice and easy, right?! This little beauty is Vixie, from Make it Crafty, and I gotta tell you, she's a sassy little minx. She demanded that she had purple hair and a green dress. I'll give it to her, it looks kinda cute!

Scootin Witch

Hey Peeps :)

Disclaimer Alert!!

Have you seen the new Halloween images at Make it Crafty? As soon as I saw Scootin Witch, I wanted to colour her. I'm not sure if it's the expression on her face, or the super cool broomstick, the goggles, or just seeing an opportunity to play around with some pleats and folds, I just knew I had to 'do' her! I printed her out quite small, and now she lives in my ATC Journal.

I wanted to give her skin a bit of an unhealthy pallor, no peachy, fresh tones here. I'm pretty pleased with how that turned out. I Air Brushed the mesh behind the image... I have the black fingernails to prove it!! And I messed around with a smooshy background. That's all Copic by the way. It might be small, but I had a lot of fun with it!

I would like to enter this project into the following Challenges...
Copic Marker Deutschland - Halloween
Copic Marker Espana - Halloween
Without Words - Boo

Melissa's Flowers

Alrighty then :)

All it takes is a photo. Let me explain. I'll colour an image. I'll look at it and tweak it. I'll make a card for it. I'll take a photo. I'll upload the photo into Blogger. Then, and only then, do I really 'see' what I've done! So, ignore Melissa's hair, which could be better. And enjoy the bunch of flowers...

I'd like to enter the following Challenges...

Jump!

Coooey :)

I've been wanting to colour up Ali Skipping for some time. Aside from the fact that she looks quite happy, skipping away, (Exercise? Eurgh!) she's quite nice image to practice colouring skin and hair on. Along with my arch enemy... pleats!

A little push

Hey Peeps :)

I set myself a bit of a challenge with this card. It started with some papers my lovely friend Delphine sent me. They are beautiful, and my plan was to use at least one sheet from the pad, although, it didn't work out in the end.

Anyway, the colours from the pad inspired me to reach for the purples, which, despite the fact I love them, I rarely use. I decided to print the image in grey, it's a little too dark to be No Lines, but they are softer than black. And to make it even harder on myself, I thought I'd go for a monotone look. Simples.

Next. Air Brush. I got an Air Brush for Christmas and the Air Can ran out last week, just in time for me to use some birthday money on an Air Compressor. So, with new toys in The Flufferie, they also had to be used.

I Air Brushed the background, then added some Colourless Blender Splatters. I don't have any Re-Inkers in Purple, so I had to improvise and use Dye Ink for the darker splatters, but it still works I think.

Then just to colour the entire image in just five markers. Like I say, simples!

Back to basics

Hey Peeps :)

I recently read Zoe's Colouring Tutorial Colouring Techniques with Markers and I really wanted to take my colouring a step back, to think about what I was actually doing with my Markers. So, although this isn't the most complicated project on the planet, I spent some time practising some of the basics you can get to taking for granted. I'm a firm believer in watching how different people do the same thing, and adapting it to what works for you. That said, when I was thinking more about how I was using my Markers, I noticed a few habits I've slipped into. Break the habits, and I may just see that elusive improvement...
