Outrageous!!

Ok Peeps. Brace yourselves, I'm on a Bah Humbag Rampage.

Mince Pies.

An innocent Christmas Snack. And here lies my problem.

You know my Pastry Chef roots. So, you will understand that even the smell of them makes me nauseous and the fact that if I had £1 for each of the rancid little blighters I had made throughout my 'illustrious' career, I would, in fact, now be at a health club somewhere very hot, being massaged by some (semi naked, lightly oiled) Dishy Toyboy Man Candy.

Alas, it is not the case and it was only two years ago, some 'AHEM' years after I hung up my Chef Hat for good, I allowed said offending items into the same Half a Mile Exclusion Zone as me. (AKA in the house.) In fact, I have progressed so far, that last year, on CHRISTMAS EVE, I partook in a lightly warmed un-mentionable, but only after some pretty serious mulled wine consumption. (AKA a bit squiffy.)

On Thursday, Sweet Cheeks and I stopped at the local supermarket for some essential mid week items (AKA Choklit, biscuits, ice cream). We stopped in the cake aisle so we could lick all the packaging, when suddenly, I felt hot, light headed and there were stars and black dots in front of my eyes. (Something similar happened when the + appeared on my pregnancy test, but I was at home alone, so it didn't matter if I swore or passed out.)

And why was I hyperventilating? Yep, you got it. Mince Pies. Packed tight, floor to ceiling rafters and beyond, like they were expecting a rush on. Eeeurgh! It's SEPTEMBER. I'd tell you which shop it is, but I have a feeling you might be the rush on...! ;)

Anyway, remember it was Very Understanding Hubby's birthday last week? This is one of the cards I made for him. He loves DIY. Or rather, he loves ignoring the destructions and then getting cross because the table he's making looks like a park bench...

I used Jo's fabby sketch from Sketch Saturday, which this week, is sponsored by Simon Says Stamp. Pop over for all the details and to see the GORGEOUS creations from The Saturdays.

Now our Faye, I can't agree with you on the mince pie front ... there is nothing i like more than a warm mince pie with the top lifted and squirty cream deposited inside before pressing the top firmly down ... oh salivating just thinking about it!!! However, i do have to agree that September is slightly taking the "P". On our visit to the supermarket earlier this week i noticed "Advent Calendars" and Christmas choklits!!!! I've barely packed my bikini away ... (slight exaggeration, I dont own one).

Anyway, all that said ... your card is just gorgeous. What a great image and perfect for the diy hubster. Great papers and as always fabulous colouring.

Hugs Jillix

Here I am, waiting to leave you a comment... but Clément has just found your fishes and he has played for 10 minutes... I do hope all the blogs I want to visit do not have fishes or I may have to stay at home on Monday and not go to work to finish my visits... How terrible that would be LOL! I love your card sweetie, Lovely image and fab colouring, and the embellies are just brilliant! Have a lovely day:-)! Hugs Delphine xx

Fabby card,Faye - lovin' those papers! I'm afraid to say that the dreaded unmentionables are also available here in the back of beyond. This is quite an achievement, if that's the right word, for a place which has barely grasped the concept of getting your groceries in a shop. Loathe mass produced unmentionables, LURVE my versions (1 with filo pastry other with sweet pastry like wot you probably made for your posh pastries). Hungry now. xx

There's only one thing worse than a shop with mince pies in September and thats a shop without lemon meringue muffins and white lightning cider and I know how it feels !

You are hilarious girl! I can always count on you for a good laugh....so did you run from the store or did Sweet Cheeks insist on buying some?

Around here, the debate at Christmas time is fruitcake or SAY NO TO fruitcake. You either love it or hate it. I am in the LOVE it, can eat several slices in one sitting category (no wine required, but tea is nice) - I have even been known to make my own if I get organized early enough in the season. Otherwise, being in the LOVE Fruitcake category can be a really good thing if you have friends who are in the NOT category but who have family members who painstakingly prepare homemade fruitcake every year for Christmas.....I make sure that everyone knows I am in the LOVE category!

Ummm, enough about food. Super cute card for Very Understanding Hubby. Those screws are just perfect!

Hmmm, I wonder how much space you are allowed per comment? Seems I've written a novel already and it isn't putting a stop to it. Since I'm rambling, I will head off to bed as it is now beckoning loudly.

Good luck at the grocery store next time!

Brill card!! Perfectly coloured and top dog embellies and papers!! Sorry but I love Mince Pies - but they have to be home made!! Christmas isn't the same without the home made variety!! 'Tis too early for them to be in the shops though!! Juliexx
