How to splat!

Morning :)

Have you seen the new Make it Clean and Simple Challenge? Oh you're missing a whole post of gorgeousness if you’ve not! Get and take a looksie. This month, we would like to see Splats. Simples.

I've been playing around with backgrounds using Copic Re-Inkers lately, so I went with that. Some of you asked for a Tutorial last time I used this technique. It's a bit further down :)

I’ve been bustin' to colour up Bridgette in Love since she was released. I thought she’d go perfectly with some of the (also new) Outlined Words With Love Chipboards, which are not only FAB, but soooooooooooo easy to use. Luuuuuurve them.

So, Re-Inkery Backgrounds. In true Blue Peter fashion, you will need...

 Non-Stick Craft Mat
Your choice of Re-Inkers
Spray Bottle Filled with Colourless Blender
Glossy Cardstock

For this card, I just used pinks, but in a minute, I’ll talk to you about multiple colours.

Add a few drops of R81 to the Craft Mat with a couple of sprays of Colourless Blender. The more sprays of Colourless Blender you use, the more diluted the colour becomes.

Take the Glossy Cardstock and dab it into the inky solution on the Craft Mat (You want to add the ink to the glossy side of the card!) Press down lightly. Let the ink dry.

Repeat the process, adding more Re-Inker and Colourless Blender to the Craft Mat as necessary.

I used less Colourless Blender on this last ‘dunk’ to make the final layer of splats a bit deeper.

Repeat the above steps until you’re happy with your background.

*****

If you want to use multiple colours for a background, I've found it best to build layers with one colour at a time. When I laid down all the colours at once, it all got a bit murky and muddy.

Start with YG03 and apply to the glossy cardstock, as above.  Wipe away any leftover YG03 from the Craft Mat. Add a few drops of B91 and a couple of sprays of Colourless Blender.

If you're happy, leave it here, but I've decided to add some V22.

I think the V22 has ‘swamped the B91...

That's better!

Wow, I'm not sure I'm brave enough to do the backgrounds. I know mine would end up with more on me than the card! Love Bridgette; as always, your colouring is STUNNING.

LOVE it! Love that background and will have to try that for sure. Looks like watercoloring - which I have so much trouble with. Love your entire card Faye and of course the coloring on the image is just perfect. Fabulous card!

Hello Faye, a friend told me about your amazing blog and sent me to check out. I'm so glad she did! This tutorial looks great, I'm going to give it a try today but I one stupid question, do you stamp your image onto the coloured background and colour over it or have you stamped on seperate card and cut her out then stuck her onto the background? Sorry if this is a stupid question!
